About Me

I'm Jamie, a thirty-something, early morning mother runner from central Ohio.  I have a wonderful husband of 11 years, 2 little girls and 3 big dogs.  I love spending mornings at the zoo, running in the rain and if ever given a choice of color for running gear/clothes/accessories, I will always, always choose pink.

I started running in August of 2010.  I had a few pounds to lose and sitting on the couch eating ice cream wasn't helping me achieve the desired results.

I needed a change.

I had friends who were runners and they made it look and sound fun....they wouldn't do it if it sucked, right?  It was worth a shot.   I was told to give it 6 months and if I didn't like running after 6 months then I should shop around for a new form of exercise.  Psh....I can handle 6 months.  I was in labor for my second baby for at least that long! (it felt like it, anyway)

I'm glad I committed to 6 months because the first few months hurt.  Holy muscles I've never heard from before!  The endorphins kept me coming back for more.  In September of 2010, I ran a mile for the first time in my life.  It was incredible.  I wanted more.  I signed up for a trail 10K in November 2010 and I loved the race atmosphere.  I wanted more.
Marathon #3

Turns out, I love distance running.  I think 15 miles is my favorite distance.  Bonus: it sounds really badass when you hear someone say "I ran 15 miles this morning."

I'm not fast, but I want to be.  Maybe I will be someday, maybe not.

Running seems to have made itself a permanent part of my life.  It helps me to like what I see in the mirror, relieve stress and has led me to a lot of great friends.  Training for races or not, I'd still be that crazy runner out in my 'hood at 5am.
